Yes, refugees with refugee status and asylum seekers are able to volunteer.
By volunteering asylum seekers can support their local community and this will also assist with their integration if granted leave to remain in the UK.
We do not currently have the resources to provide formal qualifications for our volunteers. We do however offer informal training in a broad range of topics via Evolve our E-learning platform and on the job training dependent on the role in store or in the DC. We also provide a certificate upon completion of volunteering too.
Volunteers do not need to give notice if they want to stop volunteering, in the same way that an employee would have to. As part of setting the expectations and having good communication with your manager, we expect volunteers to have a conversation with us if they are thinking of leaving, ideally to give notice so that we are able to replace their support. However volunteers are under no obligation to notify us if they do not wish to.
Our stores operate similarly to high street retail and less like your average charity shop. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service through retailing high quality, pre-loved clothing and accessories for peace building across the world whilst having a positive impact on our planet by keeping fashion circular for longer. In supporting two great causes as well as so much experience to gain for yourself, what are you waiting for...apply now to join our team!

Induction
All our volunteers complete an induction and training period where you get to know your role and understand the skills you will need to complete your volunteering role.
If there’s no response, we’ll leave a voicemail and then follow up with an email.
If you’ve not received contact from us within 10 days (please check your junk/spam folders) then please email us at volunteer@whiteroseshop.co.uk
All volunteers will receive an induction when joining White Rose. Volunteers are provided with expectations and receive specific training for the role they are carrying out as well as health & safety training and we'll equipped you with the knowledge about our charity and Aegis Trust too.
We understand our volunteers have responsibilities and commitments outside of volunteering and sometimes things crop up when you are due to volunteers volunteering is flexible.
Please contact the manager directly as soon as possible to notify them if you aren’t able to attend a shift.
After your induction, you will liaise with the manager in the store or donation centre that you’ll be volunteering at. Let them know your availability each week.
There isn’t a set amount of time that individuals need to volunteer for. We advise volunteers that 3-4 hours a week is the average amount of time needed for us and them to gain mutual benefit from the experience.
Yes volunteers are entitled to as many breaks as they wish as they are not an employee and it is up to them how much of their time they would like to give.
Volunteers are able to take time off when they wish, and this is different from taking holiday as an employee. Therefore as a volunteer, if you wish to have any period of time away from volunteering for holidays etc, simply let your manager know with as much notice as you can, so we can plan activities in store or the donation centre accordingly.
We understand our volunteers have other commitments outside of volunteering that take precedence and we take a flexible approach to volunteering so that you may pause volunteering at any point and resume when you're ready to support again.
